Hello

Hello my name is Steve and my missus is Nicole. Although we have been on many adventures around Australia, we recently decided to ditch the airports and pack up our recently modified soft floor camper trailer and head bush in a few weeks. Plan is to leave Brissy and head to the big rock in the middle, via bourke, Broken Hill, Port Auguster, Woomera, Coober Pedy, Uluru, Alice Springs then head home via Camooweal, Mt. Isa and follow the dinasaour walk through Longreach, Emerald, Springsure and over to the coast before heading home. Originally going in a large group until they decided that 4000 k's of desert, sand and corrugated dirt tracks was the way to go. The missus has issues travelling that way. She says it wastes the cruise control to not take highways and just have off the track explorations  along the way. I've got to agree with that. We have a couple of old friends coming with us in their vehicle and one in ours and looking forward to the trip. The planning process has been fun with many opportunities to read the comments about different free camp spots. A few we were keen on until we read the different Grey Nomad post about them and have now diverted to more pleasant and safer options. The forum is an invaluable resource that we tell many people to check with before making bookings. Thanks folks and we hope to see you out on the tracks next month.

Cheers the Bald Nomad and his missus

Sounds like a great trip you have planned but in the mean time you could check out all the different sections of this great forum and add your bit or ask questions in the appropriate place.
