Privacy Shades

G'day to all. We have just come back from our first trip and noticed plenty of vans with grey privacy screens. Looking at my local retailers and online I note a few different brands.

Any recommendations or ones to definitely avoid?

Advice appreciatted

we bought an expensive (relative to many other brands) screen as we wanted it to last and not just tear along the seams in the first puff of wind. From memory it was about $120 - but you can get some really cheap and no doubt nasty ones as well.

We spoke to a couple of people in the RV industry and both said that the purple ones reflected more sun and heat than the other colours. Same price as the others and didn't buy them from these people.

Have no idea why purple is better, but they have been tested in the sun against other colours, including grey and green. Weird - but it doesn't look unpleasant as it is mesh and the purple colour is not that obvious

we also purchased a shade similar to the Guru 5.5 square metre one.
We cut it in half thus his giving us 2 - ( 5.5 x 2.75) metre shade screen.
Then arranged for a industrial machinist to sew correct size rope along each of the cut sides.
then installed a shade cloth channel on the off side of the van for one shade and the other shade then slides into the roll out awning cylinder slot which is for the side annex curtain.

This effectively gives us a 5 x 5 metres shade plus the shade of the roll out awning.
Naturally you will need extra tent poles and ropes.
Looks great when set up in a bush camp.
I guess that one could call it.... home improvement or home extension.

Do you mean the thingy that attaches to the awning or the screens you put on the windscreen and side windows of a motorhome
