Toad 4x4 recommendation

Hi all Tracey and I are thinking of selling the home car and buying a small, older, 4x4 to stick on a trailer behind the Alpine. Can anyone recommend or discount brands and models? We have never owned a 4x4 before and are looking for direction on this one. Mick

Small 4wds can be uncomfortable and give a rough ride because of the short wheelbase. Is there another reason other than we owned a4wd before that justifies the requirement for one?

Does it really matter which sort of 4x4 is "toad" behind your Alpine. Whatever you get you will be able to hop into and drive around.
