NSW annual safety check for vans / trailers

Hi all,

My brain got to thinking again, to make life just that little bit more easy

I am looking for a Mechanic who might do home visits to do our annual safety check for Registrations. I used Google looking for a service of same without luck.

My reason for doing so now, is for my Boat trailer, as now with the van in the cave. It becomes a full on shuffle just to get the boat out past the van, for a simple 5 minute checkup.

I do all my own servicing/ maintainence. Any help would be appreciated. (The Auto Doctor in their add say they do, however been a long weekend in NSW I have to wait till Tuesday to find out if true.)

Jim

I believe that it is a requirement from RMS that the check be carried out in a licensed work shop, otherwise I am sure that there would be any number of mechanics who would be willing to carry out the service.
Cheers

I did the same Jim, rang a few mobile mechanics.

The question asked by all was - "Does it have a break-away system" which mine doesn't.

Two were ok to do it but I didn't like the price, took the the van to a mech shop instead.

Cheers

Hi guys and gals,

Well I have just wasted an afternoon by pulling the van from the cave and trying to move it around out of the way on the go jacks (vehicle movers), The same I use on the boat going sideways in the cave. I tried it with the van attached to the tow truck, and unhitched. I have a stamped driveway and the extra weight of the van over the  ripples.nonono  Just wouldn't budge.cry

The boat unloaded floats on the flat concrete floor of the cave. A one man operation, to push it sideways.smile

I'll just have to put the van out on the street, while I tow the boat up to the garage for a waste of my time and coin.

I don't have the turning space to mauver the van around out of the way with the tug. it would take 100 forwards and 100 backward turns to get it there, and the same to get it straight again.

What a bummer. My back is killing me, I will need a few reds tonight to help me get some rest.no

Im thinking maybe a long handled shovel under the vans rear tyre might get it moving. Otherwise it will be more of the red medicine tomorrow.

Jim
