Once more asking those in the know. The van we are getting will have a roll out awning and we are planning on just getting a privacy sun shade. My question is would we really need an Anti Flap Kit?
Depends if you will leave or rolled out overnight. Or if you might get end walls.
A lot have, as I, use and recommend Aussie Traveller kits, they support the full width of the awning so it doesn't stretch the material & also has sail track to take an end wall.
When we are staying for a few days I roll out the awning, fit the de-flappers, then put up at least one end wall, depending on wind direction which end, for protection when cooking etc.
With adequate pegging down this all stays out regardless of wind strength, unless strong wind warnings are current.
Cheers Neil

Another vote for Aussie traveller kits .our lightweight awning is now a much better product after fitting the antiflap said & a centre rafter. We also use an end wall like Neil. If a big wind is coming I do pull the lot in.
I'm another one for the anti-flap, but I have the"grasshopper " brand. They are much cheaper (they look hard to use, but there not), I also have 2 curved rafters (on a 18' awning ). With all that in place the awning is almost bullet proof.
Cheers Owen.

Same here. Aussie Traveller with 2 rafters on 21ft van. Just make sure you always have a double tie down on each end, and if the ground is sandy and soft use two long pegs at each point.
If strong winds are forecast, pull it in before the wind arrives.
As per ther others,i always put my anti flap bar and curved roof rafters on when I have the awning out its only a 5 minute job but gives peace of mind in melb recently and everyone put there awning down ours was fine even in the very high winds that gusted at times ,although I do take it down if very bad weather is predicted.mike g g
