One of the downsides of being a retired, full-time travelling Grey Nomad is there are no long weekends any more .... no public holidays ... no annual leave ... no sick leave
And another downside is that it is so hard to know when you have finished doing nothing
cheers - John

Well my birthday is actually the same day as the Queen's (21/4) so with the powers endowed with me through a touch of senility I hereby grant all Qlders a long weekend.
Why Thank You Alice. While you are at it . Can you grant me a Pension as well???????????? According to Centrelink. I am not entitled to one till I am 66 ( 6 yrs to go ) David and I are wondering how we are going to live on one Pension. So if you apply your discretionary powers. It would be much appreciated
Hi, yes God bless her, I am always thankful for a long weekend, hope to be off to Brisbane Caravan show ? See what work commitments end up like by Friday. And I am pretty sure it is a long weekend in Qld for the 46 years I've been around, hence why caravan show on ?
Hi Kaid,
I think if you try Centrelink again, you may be able to apply for a Newstart allowance until "pensionable" age. As one (single) pension amounts to about $18,800 before allowances, you would have a good case of being below the poverty line for two people. While they expect you to go job hunting, they are also aware that at 60, it is nigh impossible to get work if you are travelling. Nothing to lose, so give it a go.
cheers,
Robyn
I have been notified on good authority that Qld no longer has June long weekend ? It must have only just changed last year as for many years we went to Willowbank Raceway to the Drag racing. It was always a long weekend so please except my apologies.
