Gday geoffc

I am a fan of wikicamps on my iphone, I link it to a more expensive app called Tom Tom for my GPS. We have been all over the place and never had a fail. These two apps are the most used by us.

Cheers

I agree with Phil, we have wikicamps on the tablet as well as Camps 8 and find they complement each other with info.

We also have Hema maps which are excellent quality.

For anyone interested in Australia's wildlife, there are free apps for every State that have been prepared by each State Museum. https://museumvictoria.com.au/discoverycentre/museum-victoria-apps/national-field-guide-apps/
They are great for identifying birds, animals, insects & reptiles as you travel around the Australian bush.cowboy.gif  cowboy.gif Knowing what you're looking at adds interest to your travels.

Hi Geoffc. We have a lot and there to do with our travels.

These we use with our caravan...... Wiki camps, OsmAnd mapping, (its a off line maps, we use it the world over), MultiClinometre (for leveling the caravan), Accurate Altimetre (sometimesI like to know how high in the clouds am I), fuel map (its average). Accu weather (for knowing the weather).

Just for fun I have Digital Speedometer,

For overseas we have a few more B&B, Translate, Ulmon city maps 2 go, Booking. Com hotels, rail planner.

Hope this helps.

If you have a TV than "Antenna Mate " is great for setting up the direction of your antenna

WikiCamps and Antenna Mate for when I'm stationary, and when I'm on the move TrackPal, which displays two trip meters, for the iPhone (don't know if there's an Android version).

Gee Geoffc I haven't thought about that one, my lady is the accountant with the degree and has set all that up on the lap top for me.

I better go hunting or will I.

Hi all I'm a new member and seek assistance, in mid July 2016 I'm towing my caravan from Dandenong Victoria to Merimbula then to Nelson bay, I'm taking my dog so need pet friendly caravan parks. I've not taken this route before and usually drive in stints of approximately 250kms. Can you help me with nice caravan parks to stay at near the water, pretty towns etc don't want to miss out on pretty places

My wife recently inquired why her phone was using so much data even though she'd hardly used it. She went to a Telstra shop & the guy looked at how many apps she had on her phone (10). He told her that apps use data in the background even when being used very little. The more apps you have on your phone the more data will be used up. There's a way to stop this happening depending on which phone you have. www.igeeksblog.com/how-to-stop-iphone-apps-from-using-mobile-data-on-ios-8/

Hi Geoffc

Just going over some past posts and noticed your post re apps and in particular asking about recording fuel usage etc. I use an app called Fuel Monitor. Find it easy to use and has good stats for fuel usage, costs etc. Can also record services and repairs. From memory it was free for a trial period then a small fee.

Cheers

Joff

Why worry.
Tank empty. Fill tank.

I've been doing it since Nov '63.
First time I think about that. I'll park it.

All I ever do is read speedo. against fuel pump. divide.
Just to make sure consumption hasn't gone up and MAF/Filter need a clean

You know haw far you get on average tank. subtract 20% and call that your fill up range.
I do. Just in case next servo is off line.

If You have to worry about it. Maybe you shouldn't be doing it hey.

Just slow down a bit when funds low and do some fishing...

Oldies love all these techno gadgets, it relieves their boredom & gives them something to think about besides washing & polishing their setup. wink.gif I'm with you mate, when the tank needs filling it gets filled. Simple really when you come to think about it. Not rocket science but some like to make it that way. hmm.gif

 Hi amedeo.And welcome,

I am going up that way But a bit earlier and through the inland a bit as well.

I reckon if you want an answer start a new thread. I have found pretty and nice equates to van parks. And that's ok as well. Do a search for towns with show grounds as well.

All I ever do is open the camps book and pick camp with in my distance, then look up the towns for interesting sights.smile

When it comes to monitoring costs, we do not chill out over it.
One has to pay for C.Parks, fuel cost of living on the road etc etc.
To much to enjoy around this great land to be itemising the amount of $$$$ spent or for that matter saved.
Just enjoy the dream. Life is to short a trip to be bogged down with small things.
Does it really matter if you record your expenditure.
However, I guess having said that............ we use Master card.............. for virtually all the expenses over say $10, so I guess that we are in real terms tracking our expenditure.

Just our view on costs etc.

Yea JD.

We pay on card then pay card every month.
Our recording lasts till following month starts.
Just to check MAF basically.

Some days we do over a thousand k's a day.
Some weeks we do less than 100km.
Swings and roundabouts, It don't really matter.

What this costs is irrelavant. We all live to our wallet. accordingly.

Enjoy doing it. and Maintain your rig. It'll then Maintain you.

I'm 75 tomorrow. Probably getting near that "Oldies" title.

But never a bean counter.
