FeralFree

Heads up for those thinking of a trip to  Kangaroo Island.  FeralFree is a new initiative from Kevin Butler (BlazeAid Founder) to assist in trapping cats on the island. Thousands of them destroying the native animals. I think the idea is for nomads to set the traps, then let the rangers know when they have caught a cat so they can be disposed of. Supposed to be starting 15 Sept. Keep an eye on the BlazeAid.com site if interested. They also want at least 200 flat pack traps to be made ready on the island by start date. Have asked Mens Shed for help.

whew.....when I read the topic header for this post, I thought some authority had banned Nomads from a particular area lol

Seriously though, I great project - lets hope they get all the voluntary support they need. Should be done elsewhere on the Mainland as wild cats kill for the pleasure, not just to survive and they wipe out more native fauna than wild dogs and goats etc

Great worthy idea....I believe the last person who tried to create a' feral free' environment was Guy Fawkes.....Hoo Roo

While staying at Lake Ratzcastle in the Wimmera VIC we started cooking on our BBQ under our awning. We were on our own & the smell of cooking meat brought a heap of feral cats out of the bush onto the edge of the clear area where we were camped with their tails expectantly waving in the air. Pity I got rid of my rifle many years back!

goldfinger - you really crack me up with you very clever and dry sense of humour - great !!!! Keep 'em coming please - I always have a smile when reading your posts.

Pity that Guy Fawkes turned into such a fizzer - we've still got to many "Guys" making stupid decisions and spending our money for us !!
