As I was reading this http://www.9news.com.au/national/2016/05/18/16/24/vic-phone-scammers-steal-170-000 , I got an email telling me I had to attend an AFP court-case or else. This adds to the all PayPal "we going to close you account" and the Australia Post "pick up you parcel within 4 days or pay heaps of money" and the NAB "75$ to complete a survey" (yep 75$, not $75). Plus the solar panels and computer virus via phone. And it's only Wednesday.

........I get emails with photos daily, telling me there are 4 mature women within 3 miles of me...all wanting to ""enjoy"" my company.......are they following behind me in a mini van or what?.......?....and whats more they don't look like any of the 'mature' women I see in Aldi's etc.....although the ones in Aldi's always have their clothes on.. so bit hard to tell...lmao....
Seriously you would think Bunnings/Woolworths/ Coles etc etc would want to stop the false emails promising Gift Cards ....you've won one....suddenly changes into a chance to win one...... There is no doubt there are now more spurious emails daily than ever before....and not likely to change....
Instead of them going to Junk box ,and then having to delete, why can't we just have them sent back to them..automatically... by computer setting.........

Some years ago when I was learning about computers, and the perils of surfing the net, it was mentioned that if you replied to a spam email, then the spammers knew it had been sent to an active address
But...
If you did not reply and just marked it as spam, they were unsure if that address was still active. Plus eventually, the spam filter would place those same type of emails, direct to the spam folder
As long as the address is not rejected, the spammer knows it is real. Some people try a patten. fred@hotmail, fred@gmail, fred1@hotmail etc. All those that do not get rejected get sold onto a spammer who then makes up lists.
