Brilliant for photos approx. 100 y.o..re the gas masks...my Grandfather died as a result of mustard gas poisoning received in the last big push at 'The Somme'.and at the same last successful 'Big Push', his younger 20.y.o. brother,..my Uncle, was killed at his Artillery position 19/8/1918, 2nd Brigade, Australian Field Artillery shortly before 'Armistace'...tragic days.......................Hoo Roo

Yes, tragic days. It boggles my mind to think of 1 million soldiers being killed in one battle, and in such horrific ways.

BTW, your uncle would have been your grandfather's son, not his brother. Your grandfather's brother would have been your grand uncle.
