Hello GN friends. At last we are about to take off for a few months, firstly up the Stuart Highway to explore the Kimberleys and home via WA and the Nullarbor. I have asked about a section of road in the "Road Conditions" forum but not sure if everyone reads this (I don't ), so I'm repeating my question here. I hope that's OK. We hope to meet up with some of you along the track.
Looking forward to your comments.
Margaret
"We are thinking of taking the Great Northern Highway from Broome heading south to cross the Nullarbor on our way home to Sydney. We plan to be in the WA in July. The map shows 180 km of unsealed road between Meekathara and Wiluna which is on the Goldfields Highway. We would greatly appreciate comments on road conditions and sensibility of taking this route. We have a 2013 single axle semi-off-road Millard van and an 80 series turbo diesel Toyota. Thanks Margaret and Ron"
Not sure of current situation but we travelled this road Two years ago . It was a good formed gravel road then ,very dusty but worth doing with some interesting stops along the way of old gold diggings you never know you might stumble over one . There were three of us a single axel ,tandem axel and a small Avan . You shouldn't have any trouble .

Have a look on Mainroads WA site - there is a search facility to check on road conditions throughout the State. If you cant find it, or its vague, you can email them or phone them to find out. I'm guessing the roads you are looking at are in their Northern Region branch and they will have up to date condition reports.
Failing that, find a few shires on your route and email or phone their Info Centres. They all collect info on road conditions
Good travels
