Hi Steve. I see you haven't had a reply yet and I don't know anything about this model.

But there are a few members here with Colorados who may jump in and tell you their thoughts about their models for what its worth.

Have you googled it to see if there are reviews or customer feedback? Try Colorado review or Colorado feedback or just try the Holden site and see if your model have feedback.......

There may also be some free member websites (like this one) from car clubs etc that may have members in it who own the same vehicle - a bit of leg work, but may turn up something.

The other shot is to go into a Holden dealership and go to their service manager and ask him - you might get an honest and knowledgeable answer when he understands you are intending to buy it privately

Hello widgeewoodduck

Further to the excellent advice given by Bruce and Bev
Below is a link to a 2009 review of a Colorado, when the vehicle was new. This at least gives an indication of the weight it can tow, and the fuel consumption while not towing

http://www.caradvice.com.au/19767/2009-holden-colorado-offroad-review/?ca_rd=route

Unfortunately when it comes to a second hand vehicle, they could be either in a used or abused condition

The RAC of Queensland pre purchase check is a very good idea.
When you go to pick up the report, the examiner should be able to access the RACQ database and possibly print out, all the items which had caused the 2009 Colorado owners, to call them out for roadside assistance.

In the meantime, if no one else from the forum comes along, it could mean that no one else, has actually used a 2009 Colorado as a tow vehicle.

Hope this info helps you out

thank you well i did do a lot of research on the 2009 Colorado and it actually received the tick of approval as far as towing and off road work but just above average for normal use and as fore buying second hand yes it will be having all the checks  so far all good , plus coming with free 3 year warranty as well , but as with all things it all depends on how you treat and look after the wheels , a lot of the newer vehicles are having troubles with engine design etc so it is i think that most are pretty good but as with all there is a lemon in amongst  all makes now and again just was hopeful that i would get an answer from the horses mouth so to speak .

Regards from us greatly appreciated   Steve & Stella

Thank you greatly appreciated for your feed back  was hoping to hear straight from the horses mouth so to speak , my own mechanic said there were three to look at , Toyota , Colorado , or the Dmax , he is an racq registered garage etc etc , any way it looks as though it is going to get the tic of approval from the inspection after i spoke to him today , just a couple of minor items to be fixed will keep the forum updated but hopefully will pick this vehicle up Tuesday .

Regards Steve & Stella
