Gday everyone! posted a while ago looking for info on this auction held by goldstar rv, but couldn't find much on the topic. it seems their auction is underway now, was checking to see if anyone here was looking at picking anything up from them? from what i can see their starting bids are set pretty low, 20k-24k etc and they've got some real nice vans set up They're running it from www.snapauctions.com.au which they seem to own as well. Have to say the site is set out pretty well, and personally im going to be aiming to hitch up to the slide out for under 45k (fingers crossed)
Understandable assumption to make, but I've been able to check out their auction stock in SA and cant spot anything wrong with it. I spoke with their salesman for a while as i went through the vans and he told me they plan on holding these regularly, which makes it seem to me to just be a new sales technique
Believe me i have done my research, i am aware there are people unhappy with their goldstar vans however i have seen and am good friends with people that are very happy with their new vans, and in my experience people are more likely to go leave a review if they are unhappy than if they are happy with the product!
Thanks for your input though Bill

Sounds more like a sales pitch to me.... I wouldn't mind betting that kpicket59 works for goldstar in some way??? Considering in his 5 posts since joining all have been about goldstar auctions.... SUSS!.

Not sure i appreciate your accusation madaboutled, the only reason i have been posting in these forums has been to try and get some info on these auctions, not to push around their product. Have simply told people that i am interested in a goldstar van if i can get it for a good price at their auction

Hi KPicket59. I have seen a few of these vans about in my travels and they look pretty good. The owners that I spoke with seemed pretty happy. The owners that had some issues informed me that these issues were remedied fairly quickly.
I guess the only thing with these vans is that if they retail at a cheaper rate than most vans, then the resale might be priced accordingly. I know that there are a few items that are standard on other vans that are extras on these vans, but, they are also cheaper to purchase so it all balances out.
The most important thing is to buy the van you like, not one that someone else tells you to like. If you read the endless drivel on this forum about Jayco you would never buy one. Have a look out on the road, every second one is a Jayco. Either these owners are pretty stupid or the authorities on this forum are mistaken.
We have just picked up our jayco, they forgot to put in an extra 12 volt for us. Fixed it on the spot. Was going to make bed longer, did not happen but gave us money back so hubby can do it himself. Cannot wait to start travelling

In September 2014 I boarded a big silver bird in Melbourne and it landed in Adelaide so I could check out a van (Goldstar) that I had researched heaps for a few moons and was ready to buy that day. I had spoken to GM many times on the phone and thought yep, that's it for sure. The price was real good too. Even got better during my visit.
I got to the yard and as soon as I approached the van, thought mmmm, not as good as I thought but continued to check it out and ask questions. Got inside a new van and the door closing of the ensuite at the back was coming of the fittings attached to the roof that also were coming off the roof. No major problem so started looking at the cupboard doors, mmmm, screws dislodged from the "chipboard cupboards". Screws and chipboard is not good IMO. Yes I know as I am a cabinet maker by trade, yes many moons ago but the knowledge never leaves you.
I was not looking for chipboard doors etc and wanted timber frame doors and so on so decided it was nothing like the quality I was looking for. I was back on that big silver bird real quick heading back to home base.
That all said, I have always said to people that have asked me that the Goldstar would more than likely be a reasonable and cheaper new van for the holiday maker or weekend warrior. Unfortunately not good enough for full time travel. IMHO.
Yes, I have had problems with my choice but not the actual construction of the van it self. Who doesn't have problems with new vans? The lucky ones.
Good luck with your choice in the end and enjoy it to it's fullest.

Hi All,
I have not been on this website long and I must admit I find the above accusation insulting to not only KPicket59, but also to the intelligence of others on this forum. Do you have any proof?? If so, put it up, otherwise........
Also, if you are going to quote something, about what the webmaster wrote, quote it in full and in context.
At the end of the day, I think Daxer has it right:

Guess which one I think is the correct response.
Especially about the "drivel" and "authorities"
After all, I believe that this forum is about sharing ideas and experiences in a friendly and helpful manner. Am I mistaken about this assumption??
