Flashing LED lights on jayco

Hi All i am new to this site and just setting up to one day travel.

We have just purchased a 2009 sterling which is fitted with all led lights for blinkers, stop ,tail and clearance lights. When i hook it up to 2014 Colorado and have the key in the on position or with the engine running all the lights flash every 3 or so seconds..All the lights work as they should when you turn the car lights on or indicate  or touch the brake pedal although you can still see them flash at the 3 or so seconds while the clearance lights brakes etc are applied. The van was hooked up to a 2002 model cruiser and it didnt flash etc may be the cruiser didnt have all the new electronics etc. this leads me to think the problem may be in the car even though I have no problem when hooked to trailers with out led lights.Does any one have any ideas

Thanks in Advance

Bluejay

Hi Bluejay, welcome to the forum. Our master poster Dougwe, who also has a Colorado as his tug, had a very similar problem recently. Don't know if he's got it fixed yet or is waiting until he settles in at his regular winter spot way up north. I'm sure he'll fill you in on his situation once he reads this post.

Cheers
Joe

Welcome to the gang Bluejay, enjoy here and out in the playground.

To save me typing and repeating go down to about page 5 or there abouts here in "Teckies" and look for " VAN LIGHTS FLASH EVERY 5 SECONDS OR SO" by me. It was discussed in detail there. I will be speaking to Holden in the next few weeks armed with that info.

Gday gang and welcome Bluejay,

We have a Ford Ranger and a Jayco caravan, we have a special plug extension which has some resistors in it to make our van lights work properly. Sounds like the same is needed for your Collie.

Cheers

Mine is the same and with new van indicators were flickering, so just put some resistors in the plug and now ok

I was browsing thru Repco flasher units when looking for one for my old Patrol (got the wrong one but that's another story).  I saw a flasher unit that was designed specifically for use with Leds.

I'd just go to a good Auto Elec.  The one that I eventually used at Caloundra was a beauty & cheap too.
