Nobby free camp

We've just had three nights at Nobby . . . Nice little village about 30 kms from Toowoomba on the road to Warwick.

Large parking area, water and toilets, pub and general store. Craft store in old railway station, markets, indoor bowls at hall Wednesday 7:30pm.

Trucks passing through camping area occasionally to use weigh bridge. Some road noise from traffic on Clifton to Toowoomba road.

There are a few powered sites opposite pub, $3 per night for power, pay at pub.

I've heard that the Council has sold the land and it will be up to the new owners what happens next.

Land is owned by RailCorp people - they apparently didn't not know what it was being used for. Said they were going to end the camping, townsfolk are trying to hang onto it, as it keeps the town alive. There is an alternative elsewhere in town if things don't go to plan.

Negotiations are ongoing.

Thanks GypsyRose1 I had only heard the tail end of the story on the TV and didn't have a copy of the paper to check the exact story, so thank - you for clarification.

We've just had another 3 nights at Nobby. This time we parked near the big hedge, quieter and some afternoon shade.

We played indoor bowls while there, the bowlers are a very welcoming and friendly.

The people we spoke with were annoyed at the rumours about the camp ground closing, they say they will fight to keep it open as it is an asset to the village.
