Isn't the whole idea of having a grey water tank to drain it only into a recognized dump point. If you are going to drain it onto a tree etc why have one, just use a bucket.

Hi Ian,

Why can't you do both, using a second pvc ball **** valve on the left side of your tank. When you pull up the passing GN's wont notice you watering the needie. smile Leave both open to drain completely, even better. wink

My motorhome has the original manufacturer grey water hose connection on the left (passenger side), near but not at, the rear

My neighbour caravan has two original manufacturer grey water hose connections on the right (drivers side), just forward of the axels

As I do not use caravan parks, I normally empty the grey water by the bucket full/s over several trees/bushes, when there is no dump point available
When I leave a site, there is normally no tell tale sign, that I have dumped my grey water.

When I am at a site with a dump point, I only use my grey water hose, if my 80 litre tank is full, when I am emptying directly into that dump point.
I have found that on average the better half and myself, would use a bit less than two bucket fulls, in a 24 hour period.

When I know that it is nearly time to empty the loo, I will leave some grey water in the tank, as I have come across dump points that have no water, and the grey water is handy to clean the dump point, without using drinking water

Buckets overflow.

Having a grey tank gives you choices depending on where you are.

Our grey water enters before pump . After pumping out black water I pull the grey water valve . This flushes the black water . Cleaning the hose . Then I wash hose with local water . Store black water hose in seperate area to fresh water hose . In our case the outlet is on drivers side . IMO it's better on passengers . So you don't face the wrong way when emptying into most dumps ..

I have decided to look into "Hey Jims" suggestion. My grey water system came with a "knife" valve at the outlet, and I am thinking that if it ever plays up, I would have bucklies chance of getting spares or a replacement. It would be better and easier to get two "off the shelf" ball valves.
I cant take the outlet to the back of the van, the distance and exposed pipe would be a problem.

No, the idea of a grey water tank is to carry your waste away from a camp site where it is not welcome or where you would be embarrassed if you leave a mess. You use the tanks to remove the water to where it is not a problem.

Yep agree. Not good coming to a site where we all get together etc with any smell or flies around someone's mess. Put it somewhere away from camping areas.
