Checking out the Operation of a Tekonsha Prodigy

Prior to a trip I checkout the operation of the caravan lights (glow) and brakes (hum) using a battery charger and fittings that fit into the caravan plug, then if anything is amiss I fix it.

Would like to be able to check out the operation of the Prodigy (4 or 5 year old model) in the tug, prior to the hook up/trip, without having to hook up the van.

Anybody know the test/equipment/resistors/procedure to fit into the tug socket.

Thanks

Peter

a volt meter , at pins 5 & 3 in the 7 pin socket when pushing the brake pedal
but depends on the model you might only get
a quick jump in the volts with the unit turned up, then drop of to a lower voltage
or a constant voltage with the older models
vary the settings and the volts will change

Col,
From memory my unit only lights up when the Tug is connected to the van, ie it expects a load, hence I thought some value of resistor across the pins would be needed when checking the voltage.

So with a resistor/meter across the pins, read the voltage with/without the brake pedal depressed to confirm all is OK?

Try a headlight or stoplight globe.
