Rear view mirrors

I am considering a new set of towing mirrors for my truck.I have narrowed it down to 3 brands. Milenco,Ora and Reich. Ora and Reich have flat lenses while Milenco use a convex lens giving a wider view but distorting distance.Ora use a different fixing system to the side mirrors than the other two. Reich use a split bar to carry the mirror.I would be pleased to receive constructive comment from those who use these brands.

Thanks John.I have had a read through the topic. I am interested in hearing crits of those three I mentioned. I currently use and have done for the past 20years at least, a pair of strap-on cheapies which have served me well over the years and on three different vehicles.Clearview don't supply a unit to fit my Y62,and if they did I feel they are too wide and ugly when without the van. They do however provide excellent vision when towingthat I cannot dispute. Ian

I have been using ORA BIG RED for the last 10 years on my 100 series. The only thing I changed from the instructions, was to place the right hand mirror under the tug mirror instead of on top, this changes the angle for the brace and it is stable when trucks pass. When in use I remove the magnet from the door every few days and clean any dust off. No marks yet, I always wipe door and magnet before use with a damp chamois.

i tried the milenco

waste of money   tooo much movement

and could not find anyone on internet selling the flat glass

only convex glass which in my opinion   is crap i like to see things in real time not ants coming down the road

before you buy, best maybe to borrow one ,to try it out if you can then decide

YEP...that would work real well on there for sure.

And I would use the idea too....except for the smallish wiring harness that is attached to my mirrors (on a Patrol too). I doubt they would stretch far enough....and are pretty well encased...making it hard to cut and join extend.

But a top idea nevertheless.

I recently changed to Milenco Grand Aero  (extra wide I think).

Mine have flat glass.

I find them much steadier but the drivers side did fold back with a passing truck on one occasion.  Might be the Patrol mirror mounting.  Fixed with a bungy strap to the CB aerial mount.

Great mounting screws & brackets.

Very satisfied with my purchase.

Hi,
For what its worth, I have had Clearview Mirrors on my 100 series for about 6 years now and had no problems. Love them, they never move unless I move them and they don't wobble about like some others. I would highly recommend these.
