Interesting stuff after the last effort with the single burners.Kept my old ones last time and bought a new one when they were made available.Pulled both apart and were exactly the same in all aspects. Funny that. I did notice, however, that the canisters were slightly different and had different printing etc. What is really going on?The new canisters don't appear to have as much gas in them now if you give them a shake.I am beginning to wonder what really is going wrong.I haven't heard of anyone I know or my associates know of anyone who has had problems with any of the units.May be wrong but will wait with baited breath.
Hi Patrol 3
Do you think that any official recall is a joke?
Manufacturers would fight tooth & nail, IF they believed there was not a problem!
Such recalls can cost them a fortune
They are only issued when serious problems have occurred & been reported for investigation!!!
Ive had 3 single burner butane cookers. My 1st one is about 15 years old (well, almost) and never had a problem with it and used it often.
Went away but didn't have the cooker which was well packed away, so bought one from Bunnings. It caught fire (only a small fry pan on it), so it went into the bin.
The current one looks exactly like the 2nd one in every respect other than the cardboard wrapper had "new model" in red on it and a paper inside showing the maximum pan size to be used. Bunnings and KMart still selling the old style cylinders. BigW, Rays and BCF (the last two both owned by the same company) have a different gas cylinder which have pressure relief vents (like indented marks) around the top of the can. But I NEVER use these cookers inside my 'van and use it well away from the vehicles (it can burn up safely that way) and always use a small pan

Have a look again. If they are in fact the same you have been sold old stock. The new model should have the trivet fixed and it should be taller. Take it back and query things if you do not have the model with the fixes trivet..

Yes Peter you are correct.
The recall is for the 2 burner models which appear to be completely flat so a huge pan could be used which would overheat the cylinder.
I believe the new single burners with the new cylinders are now safe and I have bought one.

HI
READ the recall ,it is due to a totally different problem!!
Yes my mistake. Sorry all
The reason for the recall was
" In these models, certain components such as O-rings and control knobs have failed. "

By the way on re-reading my post I stand by what I said and consider the new design for the single burner much safer as it is not easy to put an extra large pan on them.
I still think the double burners are likely to have problems with overheated canisters as the stove is flat and one is able to put 1 or 2 large pans on it.
What I did not notice in the link was the reason for the recall which I have now rectified.
