When I was an Officer at a Fire Station down south, a young fireman walked into my office and said excuse me sir can I ask you a personal question and I said yes. He then said I know you have five daughters and you might be able to help me with a question about understanding my girlfriend. I said I will ask you a question first, will the sun rise tomorrow morning to which he replied of course it will. Good I said, education complete that is all you need to know. Everything else will be sorted and explained to you when required as you proceed through life, it is that simple. Any further questions, no he replied as he slowly walked out.
When I was a young man still at school, I pumped petrol during my end-of-year holiday break. A mechanic who was older and wiser than me (he was 21, I was 17) gave me a valuable piece of advice about women. He said, "F*** them and f*** them off". I wish I'd had the foresight to ask him to be my mentor, but when you're young and naive, you think you know everything. To this day I regret not having followed his example. Life would have been a lot less painful. If you're screwing people, they will hate you, but at least they will respect you. Nice guys really do finish last.
