Well I went from Canberra to Narooma the other week. After the long and difficult trek through roadworks and down the Clyde (Mostly @ 60ks) I finally got to Batemans Bay. The last 50k's to Narooma and a rest was the longest road I have travelled in a long time. And I have driven all the other highways as well. Except the Anne Beadell and the tanami. The 360k,s of dirt to Birdsville was pretty long too. For me, its a matter of difficulty.

"OPPS"  Seems I left out one very important word in the heading,   I was referring to WESTERN AUSTRALIA.

"Ya know the one", where the best fish and Footballers come from.  !!!

Good to see you promoting the west Jim.......it is a great place to be.......

I have done two of them several times.......unfortunately they have too black top on them......with luck I will get to the others in the years to come.........and many of the roads in other states ......

You might be right about the best fish.........but I reckon the best footballers come from Victoria.......and play for..........

Hi msg,
I have to agree, for me the most difficult so far has been the Nathan River Road & its only 319km long. 2nd would be the road from Mt. Dare to Dalhousie (even shorter) & 3rd would be Noccundra to Tibooburra via the Warri Gate.
Which way into Birdsville are you referring to msg? I really enjoyed the road in from Windorah, but found the Birdsville Track a bit disappointing to be honest.
One I really liked though was the Dowling Track through Hungerford :D

Hi trouto,

Its a great drive, but it is rocky! We drove from Eromanga down to Tibooburra in the one day if that helps?

The 1st pic was driving into Noccundra from the Qld side. 2nd pic is on the road from Noccundra to Tibooburra.

The Silver City Hwy to Broken Hill is more of the same!
