Very said, especially a day after the passing of Sir George Martin and before them Glenn Frey and David Bowie. Guess it's something us baby boomers have to get used to.

I'm probably setting myself up for some flak here, but I never thought Jon English was much chop. He would not have made it anywhere but Australia. Which is understandable if Slim Dusty and John Williamson are national icons
Back when I was a lad I read mostly Superman & Batman comics. Never bothered with the Phantom, I always thought that he was a bit of a wanker. He obviously hasn't changed much in all those years.

I find it amazing that when people have nothing left in their intellectual armoury, they choose to denigrate another person in order to establish their moral superiority.
Sorry, you both have failed in that area as well.
Stick to your Superman and Batman comics, DD. They are much easier to understand.
Sad that people cannot express personal opinions anymore on this forum. I agree with Phantom about Jon English and acknowledge that he was talented but didn't quite cut it but he certainly made himself felt. John Williamson and Slim Dusty....both well entrenched Aussie icons representing what we like to think is/was Australian life.
Entertainers are a bit like Federal Parliament - a dozen or so are cabinet members and the rest are backbenchers but they all play their part.

the Phantom
Well done superhero but I have established both my moral & intellectual superiority. I spent my working life as a Structural/Civil Design Engineer, what did you do drive a rubbish truck with a Phantom sticker on it?

Come on guys - as they say - some ya like, some ya don't - Jon English was one of those, as are John Williamson and Slim Dusty . We can't all agree, how boring, but no need for name calling - Phantom only stated his opinion!

Yeah Jules, I always wonder if the guys would make the same comments face to face. Would be very interesting if they did.
Hi all, Thanks for your contributions on this but I think I will close it now. Although we welcome debate and differences of opinions, personal attacks have no place here.
