Ibis Caravan Park, Kerang

This is the caravan park dedicated to pets.  The owners asked us on Grey Nomads for input and have taken it to heart.  We stayed there just recently and here are our thoughts.

Heather and Ross are very friendly and helpful and their dogs, well the two that we saw, are great.

They are doing a lot of work to upgrade the park and have decided to move the dog exercise area to a completely grassed site; an excellent idea from our point of view.  The amenities are fine and although I didn't take notice of just how many showers and toilets there were there did seem to be enough.

The area we stayed on was grassed and as the day was hot our dog, Pippa, certainly enjoyed the cool grass on her tummy.

We also used their well setup camp kitchen.  There is also a games TV room but we did not use that.

The greatest concern Heather and Ross have currently is that they are not hooked up to reticulated water so drinking water has to be collected at the rainwater tap.  However I believe that if you had a good water filter you could quite easily use the irrigation water.

We will stay again when we go that way.  We will always support people trying to establish a park that will allow pets.

Thanks Di and Bruce for your feedback, we really appreciate it. Hopefully if you come through again the fenced off leash area will be lush green grass.
We have finally got settled but non potable water at sites, a big improvement from straight irrigation water.
You can hook up to a rainwater tank and fill up with town water which we buy in before you park up, but it is a nuisance if you are staying for any extended period. Hope you enjoy the rest of your travels and we see you and Pippa back again one day.
We would love to fence off some van sites for van guests with pets but we have to walk before we can run. Thanks again for your feedback and sorry we didn't get to chat for very long, it has been hectic here at the park.
safe travels and all the best.

Not a problem. Anyone who is prepared to offer genuine dog friendly sites deserves to be recognised. Well done.

It's on the list of places we will stop, when we (eventually) head South again.

Hi Di and Bruce, hope your travels are going well, how is Pippa going? We sadly lost our beautiful big boy Chief, left a big hole in our doggy family. Thought I would let you know after a lot of hard work on Ross's part, we now have drinking water at each van site, we are trucking it in, it does however mean that guests can't wash their cars  and must be careful with water, but it is a big improvement on what was in existence when we first bought the park.

Hope to see you back again one day, every day seems a blur but we just love what we do. The gas project in kerang has been a good financial boost for the town with quite a few tradies here at the moment.

take care and safe travels.

Hi Heather and Ross,

That is such sad news. It is so very sad to lose a dog as they are so much a part of the family.  Part of your heart goes with them, but we are richer for having had them as part of our lives.

Excellent news re the water and you will see us again as we will head to Echuca to see our friends again and we're planning some time in the future to run along to river. Having grown up with rainwater we are still very careful with water, even though we are on the town system. It's a habit that sticks; stands us in stead too when we camp and there's no access to water other than what we carry.

Pippa is still a delight and we're so glad we have her.

You and Ross certainly know how to work! Well done.

Di, Bruce and Pippa

We've just returned from the High Country and on our way spent a night at Kerang. This time we took our friends. Both of us had a dog and they, the dogs, thoroughly enjoyed the 'new' off leash dog area. Their noses were to the ground the whole time they were there; must be great smells for dogs.

Well done, hopefully your hard work is paying off. Sorry we missed you, but holidays are important.

Di, Bruce and Pippa

What a shame we missed you, hope you had a good stay at our park and hope our relief managers looked after you. I worried all the time I was away about our furkids. Next holiday will be with our new (second hand) van.
