Putting it back together :D

Hi Folks, I am putting my caravan back together. The friend helping me is long gone and I am not waiting for their return...lol. long story. ha.  Anyway... I am only seeking to weather proof the caravan until I can paint it properly. Until then I am wanting to know what glue or sealant is good for under these tracks? Pop rivets run along the top so somthing must be used... Also please... the previous glue or whatever it is. I have scrapped most of it off. Do I need to get %100 off? It is very stubborn and i would just as soon glue and pop rivet over it.

I would use what the caravan repairers use

something like Wurth seal and bond. A caravan parts place should be able to advise you on the correct product

Thanks heaps.... going to try the sikoflex. The warnings make it sound strong, which equals appeal. :D

Yes sikaflex, which is Urethane seam sealer basically, silicone is no good. I used Urethane on the corner moulding on my old Viscount, brilliant.

 Hello Idris

I have recently used Sikaflex-11FC on the roof of my motorhome.

It was the only Sikaflex product availabe in my local Bunnings, which was an adhesive type sealant, which was suitable for exterior use. It says in the product details, that it is sandable and paintable.

I can confirm that it sticks like the proverble brown stuff to a blanket.

I can also confirm that after one week, it is still NOT sandable

Perhaps you should take on board the advice from KFT

There are multiple grades of Sikaflex. marine and building.
Get listing and no Tubes to suit.

Bostic and 3m do similar at much lower prices.
Local repair man recommends the Bostik
I have Sikaflex Industrial not marine for the van,

There is a spray pac of silicon disolve avail too.
I bought one but yuk... It's messy. I gave that away.

Just rub all with acetone first.then apply./wipe off.
If you wipe off with wet finger and lotso rags. It'll come up smooth and won't need sanding.
Sika is just about the only one you can paint and it'll stay a coupla seasons.
and it does come in multiple colours.
Not like marine. Anything as long as it's black.....
