Tracking the travels

Hi all, would anyone like to share with us the best web site or appt, we could use to document and capture our travels, which should include being able to log down all events, costs, issues etc.

We use a Blog from Wordpress.com. it's free and works, keeps track of our adventures for us and family and friends for us, as far as costs and everything else we use Nomad Notes.

I use One Note from Microsoft to do the daily log
I tried Nomad Notes and it has some positives but i eventually used separate apps on my tab for fuel and for expenses
Fuel Log
Travel Money
These are android apps but do a good job.
Dont know about the iStuff

We use the Day One app and find it very good and easy to use.

I think it cost around $1.99 to download onto my iPad.

I use it every trip and if I want to add a photo or some details in at a later date , it's simple to do.

If I want to add photos which were taken on my iPad , it iautomatically puts them in chronological order.

If I've taken photos on my iPhone , I airdrop them to my iPad and go from there.

Too easy

Another vote for wordpress, you can make it as simple as you want or a full blown web site. I am slowly putting more information as I get used to it. I have been using it for approx. 12 months and predating previous trips back to 2011. I monitor fuel usage with Fuelmaps from Wikicamps and use Google Mymaps for tracking my travels. I use the free version. I started with basic text, then started adding photos, then links to websites. There are lots of tutorials on Youtube. I have added some links to these on my blog.

It takes up a bit of time but it is very rewarding keeping track and sharing your travels. You can get very involved with your blog or keep it as simple as you like. You can also add detail as you learn and even go back and add extra detail at a later date.

Last years trip, feel free to play with, you can't edit it.

Hi Chris and thanks for your input, it's been a great help..
I see you tow a 5th wheeler, as like we do, how have you found getting in and out of parks, free camps etc.. We have not set off as yet, and have a little concern as to where we will be able to get in due to size... Ours is a Crossroads Cruiser 29ft.

Hi Kevin, I always ask for a sight that can take a 22ft - 24ft caravan, a lot of caravan parks are old and designed for nothing bigger than a 18ft caravan, quite often stay in unpowered or tent section. Free camps are mostly better if you get in early. If you are on Facebook there is a closed group "fifth wheeling around Australia" but you need to be invited. Let us know if you are interested.

I have been shown a very effective log a guy set up in MS Excel. You can set it up to include what ever you like - travel time, distances, comments, images. This can be done on a day to day or trip with a year to date column if you want. Simply set it up to suit your needs.
Cheers,
