There are a lot of prices and hidden costs, I do not know about, and in order for me to calculate if this is possible I need to know what costs I am looking at.
I have been looking at different types of motorhomes, coaster bus, vans and the rvs. I am leaning towards an rv, simply because it seems to have a better layout and more storage space. Also I think they have integrated the pluming, electrics more tidily.
I have seen some rvs at dealerships 20ft - 22 ft for around $55,000 - $65,000. I would buy it in qld, so it may have some rego on it, and a warranty. I would get one that is equipped with the standard cooking, microwave, shower toilet, loft bed, some sort of solar power and a water tank. What then in way of other costs will there be to get it on the road? Rego, insurance, stamp duty....
Would $10,000 - $15,000 extra (after the inital cost) be enough to get it on the road, get a fire extinguisher and whatever other safty equipment it needed. Maybe a couple other minor things $1000, or 2 for that. Would that also get me my internet setup and some sort of emergency communication device? Also a uhf radio.
Is $10,000 - $15,000 realistic or do I need more.
ON THE ROAD
I was hoping to live on about $1000 - $1300 a month. I plan to work to get this monthly amount.
Projected monthly expenses
Insurance, rego $250 Food $250 I don't eat much so this will be fine trust me, this includes misty's food as well Misty $100 My dog, haircuts, heart worm, fleas, ticks and special biscuits. internet $100 Fuel $200 have no idea, probably looking at 100km traveled per month would be much lower if fruit picking. Repairs $100 Just to keep up with new tires and maintaining vehicle. Other $200 camping grounds (plan on not spending much on this),Toilet chemicals, entertainment, gas bottle if needed at all, whatever else.
I plan on having a nest egg hopefully of at least $15,000 I plan on having emergency money of $5000 - $10,000 that I can use to supplement monthly expenses( in emergency) only, and for big things that go wrong, large vet bill or large repair bill.
I have $51,000 in the bank right now, I am able to save between $15,000 - $20,000 per year. Right now I would need $105,000 in total to do this ( that is at the higher calculated amounts)
Is there any costs or considerations that I have left out, is this realistic?

How do you think I've remained interested in life this long?
When we left, we made sure we had $20,000 in the bank, it is still there. We have a bus, so anything mechanical is going to cost very big.
Best advce I have is, work out what you spend now on things like food and dog, the expenses that will still be there. Look at the most expensive everything else (internet, vet, haircuts etc.) and use that as your price point.
Fuel is tough, each vehicle is different and prices fluctuate a LOT. Take what you think is reasonable for a month, then allow an extra $100 (just in case).
Best thing to do in any case, is take the highest price point you can find, then add 25% to that. I usually go $X, so allow $Y, because you never know. So far, that has worked out for us.....
