Co- ordinates

I have a question for all the intrepid travellers out there, seeking your help. When selecting a site in Camps 7 there are more than one Co-ordinate displayed for the site. I note that one of them has the letter E after it. Would that be for Degrees, Minutes, Seconds ? if so what is the other one displayed. I hope you can help me with this as i am currently going around and around in ever decreasing circles and I know where I will then end up, not nice!

Thanks in advance, Allen

Hi Allen,

My understanding is Degrees, Feet and inches. The "E" is for East, "S" South and so on.

I keyed in the co-ords for a place on a couple of occassions and once ended up going down a cane field track, the accual spot was just on the other side of a narrow cane strip. They were dort roads around me though so hard to tell the difference. The other one was I ended up on the wrong side of a very small hill, no problem, just turned around and went to other side of hill, again took wrong track, easy to do in some situations. My excuse anyway  smile

Hope that helps and you don't get lost.

Allen, If You don't have a GPS such as one of the Hema's,  that You can enter the coordinates (longitude & latitudes) into, You would be better of sticking to the street

addresses given.

Mike.

Which GPS navigator are you using Allen? you should be able to change the coordinates format in your settings to suit whichever you want.
Eg:
Degrees, Minutes and Seconds - DDD° MM' SS.S"

Degrees and Decimal Minutes - DDD° MM.MMM'

You need to enter both sets of Coordinates

One is Latitude    (South) E.g.19   34   16S       the other is Longitude  (East)  E.g.147   20   12E

Sorry the Longitude keeps jumping into a Skype ph No   ?

The Sat nav that i am using is the standard Isuzu which is fitted to all the current trucks. called NAVTEO MAPS i don't  think i can down load any other system to it, not that I am too computer savvy. Thank you all for your replies. Cheers Allen.

Now i may be able to get off the reservation Dougwe.

You don't need to download anything Allen.

From your manual, you can enter coordinates in either of the formats I listed.

Hi Allen.

We just recently travelled half the big loop. We used Wiki Camps, camps7 and IGO maps on our GPS system. After making a mistake, we then changed (our preference) our GPS to Degrees, Minutes and Seconds - DDD° MM' SS.S" and had no problems.

Hope this is of help to you.
