I am a new member - well I have grey hair already so now I am also a nomad - yea!
I am looking to buy a coaster to set up as home, any tips would be gratefully appreciated, or if you have a loved coaster you no longer have a use for please email me. I am really looking forward to the nomadic lifestyle.
any tips for a newby would be gratefully appreciated.
Good to see another Westie on here - welcome to the Forum :))
No doubt you will get lots of conflicting advice about coasters or motor homes. Hopefully Jules will pick up on your post as her and her fine man are full time nomads in their motor home and travel all over the land - so they will be able to give you some great tips and help as well as the pros and cons of the things you need in a coaster and the nice extras that make life more comfortable.

The amazing things you see when nomading Australia
Hi - thanks for the recommendation Bruce - and welcome to the forum Nuggetfinder.
Coasters are very popular - and a lot depends on how much you have to spend - Yeoeleven (a member on here) bought a 1980 petrol Coaster in 2013. He travels the East Coast of Oz mainly now - he spent two months getting it engineered, and ready for travel - it had never been registered as a camper. He now has it looking fantastic, and he loves it - he travels full time.
Other friends have newer models, and have paid various prices. We have a "classified" section on this web site (The Grey Nomads) - sometimes you will see one on there, or on your "Quokka" over West - or Gumtree is another avenue. You can also go on the CMCA website and look at what is for sale there, but you have to be a member of CMCA to go further than look - cost is $60 to join I think, and you get the magazine "The Wanderer" every month, which has all their for sales in there, as well as lots of valuable info.
Life on the road is the most fantastic life, but you do need to be set up for free camping to make it good - enough solar, to run everything 12v in your van, water tank, toilet, though Yeoeleven has a shower that he has rigged up outside, he has a Coleman hot water on demand for this purpose. He has a porta potti, but very rarely uses it. He also has a blog, which you can get into from any of his posts (look in Solos), and read about where he came from, and where he is now - vehicle wise, as well as knowledge wise.
Good luck, read all the sub forums on here, there is so much knowledge out there, and people love to share.
