have not been on the site for a while since we were travelling in our Winnebago.
We have sold Winnie and bought a 2016 Jeep Grand cherokee 8 speed diesel Auto, i read up an article where there was a tow test done on 1 of these 8500klm from Melbourne to Port Douglas & back not just on the black top.
After reading the report it made me decide to buy a new jeep as against a second hand late model 200 series cruiser.
We have ordered a new Millard 21ft Toura semi off road van will probably come in at around 2.7 tonne, the jeep is rated to tow 3.5tonne
I would like any feed back from any one that uses a jeep as their vehicle or has a new millard that they would like to point any thing out to us.
Looking forward to getting back out on the road again as soon as the new van arrives.
We will do a few local sorties around lower east coast Qld from april then head a bit further north till around September this year then we plan to go over to Tassie for around 3 months, so would also welcome any feedback suggestions in that area as well.
Hi bobcat, can certainly give you feedback on the Jeep. We have a 2014 Grand Cherokee limited with the 8 speed and we love it. Last year we did 3 months on road (15,000kms) towing a 2.8T van and it did not skip a beat. We have recently upgraded van to a 3.2t and on the couple of short trips so far all good. We hope to hit the road for extended trip next year.
