Hi all, we are looking at travelling soon and heading round the country of ours, we have two staffies, very friendly and well behaved, can anyone tell me if there have been any issues in any state travelling with staffies..? I am hearing maybe in Qld. But would like to get some feed back from fellow travellers.
We have a Boxer. If you stay in Caravan Parks you must realize that almost all of them have a ''don't go out & leave your dog unattended rule'' in place. Doesn't matter what breed of dog you have. The only other thing we keep an eye on is the white, feather fluffy duster, ****zu type of poor excuse for a dog wandering into our camp off leash pissing & ****ting everywhere & upsetting our restrained dog. They're a bloody nuisance.

Hi and many thanks for getting back to me, on the staffie issue.. Glad to hear your friend had no issues at all travelling through those states, that give us peace of mind.
Hi Guru, and yes I hear what you are saying in people allowing their dogs to roam around and do their business wherever they want... Having owned a caravan park in the past, I know what you are talking about, and some comments we got back fro people, was " you have a yardie, get hi to clean it up, as we don't do that !!!" So as you can assume, they were sent on their way... It's people like that that, who spoil it for all other travellers with pets...
We take our two medium size dogs with us, yes there are a few places you can't take dogs, but many do. Ours absolutely love the travel, but they are also, well mannered, good with kids and other dogs etc, and we respect the fact that some people are not dog friendly, ( we avoid those lol). Can always get them minded for a day or overnight if you need to visit dog free places. Honestly we hqve made so many friends through having them with us, as well as seeing places we may have missed, due to our wanting to find good walks for them. One hint, when we go to the visitors centre in any town, we always ask for dog friendly places, off leash areas etc, Just enjoy ,
cheer Jill & Pete
Actually you can go into State Parks in NSW, unless there is a sign saying no dogs, but most state parks in NSW do accept dogs.
We have looked after peoples dogs so they could go to dog free site seeing and then they have looked after our dog while we went. Some small van parks also have doggy daycare.

For once I tend to agree with you, we have traveled full time for just over 4 years with a medium sized spaniel and a cavalier, our only ever issues has been with these little fluffy monsters, that are supposedly super friendly but snap and yap continuously.
My Springer has some lovely scars along her nose now from a recent encounter, ours were on a their leads and restrained, the other not, whose owner assured us he was very friendly and never done anything like that before, yeah right !
And ok, we have come a cross friendly one's now and again but the general consensus is that many have little dog syndrome, and are extremely aggressive, more so than the bigger so called aggressive dogs.
My main issue is with thoughtless moron owners refusing to pick up and do the right thing, we see it daily, in fact only yesterday we watched this idiot let his dog defecate within 20m of some doggy bags and a bin ! then walk away as though it never happened.
Bit like smokers that just throw their butts thoughtlessly on the ground around their van when again the bin is within walking distance, Oh and don't get me started on the bottle top brigade that flick off the tops and leave them, maybe thinking they magically disappear when they've gone.
Sorry to go OT. but these thoughtless idiots are ruining it for everyone.

Hi Rosie and banjo, I know you are not travelling together, but we appreciate your input into travelling with dogs. I have to agree with you on the mindless creeps that just continue walking away when they know their pet has crapped and can't be bothered picking it up. Also the bottle to bottle tops and cigarette smokers who again mindlessly throw them on the ground, unfortunately folks these items do now dissolve !!!!
but again guys thanks for your input, hop to meet you on the road soon.... Safe travels..
we have only had two problems , one in derby with an agro Staffy that wanted to eat Mason as soon as we got out of the camper and at Banka Banka where this bloody moron thought he could handle a Malamou and a rotwheeler in thongues on a gravel track , they just pulled him along and attacked out Shi Tzu for no reason . lucky Yvonne shielded him otherwise he would be dead.
Just had a quick look at the Fraser Coast Region (where we now are) and they list Argentinian & Brazilian Mastiffs, a Japanese hunting dog (Tosa) and the American pitbull as prohibited. I googled the first 3, just to see them, and just the look of them (well, the first 2 anyway) was enough for me!
So I think staffies are probably safe. If you are concerned, check with the councils whose areas you will be staying in. Most will list prohibited breeds on their animal management website.
Happy travels :)
