Fowlers Bay SA CV Park

Hi all,

Starting to put together our maiden voyage this coming season. I want to revisit Flowers Bay SA. Has anyone stopped over their lately. The CVP has new management and fees for a tent from $25 PN.cry Has anyone used a powered site and how much.

Their web site doesn't give a costing  except for saying , say seven and only pay for six.

Jim

We stayed at Fowlers Bay CP on way back from WA in October last year.

Sites were $30 for power.

Is a basic park but a nice area to stay for a few nights. No grass sites, but all decent hardstand type sites. Water pressure is very low, and quality is marginal. Suggest taking spring water after Ceduna heading west. Park puts on a Saturday night dinner for reasonable price ($12 from memory). Showers and toilets are in concrete water tank type buildings.

Town only has population of about 50, and is a 25 km dirt road trip in and out, with road varying from bitumen smooth to very corrugated. The office come kiosk has very basic foodstuffs, so take everything with you from Ceduna. Remember that fresh fruit and veg is confiscated at the WA border, which you will reach either the day you leave or the day after, depending how quickly you go to the west.

Whales arrive in Fowlers Bay/Head of Bight area from June until October. They do Whale spotting/fishing charters from Fowlers Bay.

Hope that helps.

We were there in August 2014 for a couple of days. CP park fees were $28- pn. I don't suggest you hook up to the water. Have a look at the taps you will see why? There is a fresh rain water tank to obtain limited drinking water. There are 2 ways into Fowlers Bay and it  would be advisable to contact CP park to check what is the best road to take. This is based on the latest grading of the roads. If you choose the wrong road you will have 28klm of corrugations and that "Little Journey" will bounce all over the road and your under van plumbing might need some real attention.

It is a great little very basic caravan park. The road in has always been a tad rough in places..just slow down and take it easy and enjoy a couple of days there and catch some fish of the jetty.

To just sit on the jetty and watch the sunrise or set is, in itself, worth the trip. Fowler's Bay is one of those magical spots that is difficult to explain in mere words.

Hi John,

Not by the time I finish fixing the Under carridge. 2mm gal plate sheeting. I have also brought a Stone Stomper unit. They make them to order, haven't had the time yet to fit it.

The roads in, are ok by my standard. Its the dust I now have to consintrate on. It was suggested to me to cover the air vents from the inside while traveling on the unsealed roads. This is the biggest issue to deal with for me.

Regards Jim

I would only take the eastern turnoff road to the bay even for driving back out whether you are going East or West. The reason being if the Salt lakes are full the High Brine content water along the road causeways doesn't do the vehicles or caravans any good. Subsequently if there is no rainfall while travelling or able to wash off straight away thid can be Detrimental your caravan/vehicles.

Cheers Kev
