Yes it would do the job for you. There have been a couple of user reports I have seen on them. However I forget the forums I have seen them on. I have also seen a few on the road. I suppose that if they were a little less agricultural looking you may have see more of them around.

I had one but found it difficult to use. It has a forked lever which goes either side of the cast bracket that secures the chain on the 'A' frame. There is a slot in the end of the fork to insert a chain link then you lift the lever and insert a link from the free end of the chain into the bracket but it usually takes 2 or 3 bites to get enough tension.
The next problem is that the cast bracket is only secured to the 'A' frame with a locking bolt and too much force on that bolt would definitely break the bracket. Another problem is that if you turn to sharply the chains roll the brackets over as there is not enough free movement.
