we have just purchased a Landcruiser and will need a ladder to get to roof rack as we are not 7' or 6' tall. Any suggestions for a light weight 3 step ladder for the van and car
Nowadays I would be thinking rather than a step ladder grab one that folds in half in allows you to hook on to roof rack and lets yo climb right up onto it

If you have a sliding back window just open it, step onto the rear wheel, then use the open window as the second step, then leg over onto the rack. No ladder needed!.
If this works you can shout me a drink when we meet some day.
Regards Steve.

I like the wheel step idea. I currently just open the 4WD door for a hand hold & step up from the running board to one foot on the rear tyre the other on the back seat, shifting the hand grip to the roof rack. Perhaps not as safe or convenient as a wheel step which may make both hands free.
Storing a ladder is an issue but I saw one strapped under the van just behind the rear wheel that solves that problem.
I think that I can make up a step from scrap for less than the $62.90 for the Ebay one.
When I need a ladder to get to the top of the Van I just use one or two of the milk crates that I use to hold misc. stuff in the back of the 4WD.

Hi, Not knowing what LC You have or spare set up, I'll put this pic up to look at. Saw this a couple of years ago & liked the look but decided on a different tack.
If this style of thing is of any use or interest let me know as I have more pic's of same.
Milk crates are great till you fall off one, or your foot goes through it...
A few scrapes up the leg can attest to that, you'd think though if it happened once you'd never do it again, unlike a computer I need the information punched in more than once.

Perhaps perhaps
More recorded falls off ladders than off milk crates though.
There maybe... hahaha.. but ladders have been in use for a lot longer too... and you do realise that 47.5% of all statistics are made up anyway?
If you foot goes through a milk crate, you will most likely end up with nasty lacerations to your shin as well. I tried to find it online, but couldn't, but I once saw a safety poster where that had happened to someone and it wasn't pretty.

I agree ... like the 47.5.
ps. Of course we all know the tactic of gaining more credibility by expressing the number in a precise form like 47.5% or 47.53% rather than around 50%.
There is a great publication that I used to refer to often ... 'Lies Damn Lies & Statistics'. I loaned my copy out to some who either liked it or binned it. Never got it back.
Get the old fella on his hands and knees ., lol. We have s folding 3 step ladder . But thinking of something smaller for storage ? A strong folding chair is aften used . Serves two jobs .,
