Need help with my 3 way fridge

Hi everyone,

Iam new to the site and new owner of a 1986 Mazda T3000/T3500.

I have a Dometic RM2350 3 way fridge in my bus that I'm having problems with

and I'm in need for some advice. When I bought my bus the fridge was working

great, then we had some work done and they shorted out the electrics. Everything

seemed to be working fine and couldn't find any damage to any with any electrics.

Untill we were getting ready to go away and discovered the fridge no longer worked.

Does anyone know if the fridge could have been shorted out and how I could find this

out. I've pulled the fridge out and have managed to down loan it's manual from the web

but I still don't know what I'm looking for. Any help/advice will be appreciated.

Thank you in advance

I would be going back to the place who did the work - if It is shorted out - their responsibility.

So is it not working on 240v  Is that what was shorted out !

Or was it the 12v.

Is it still working on gas.

Firstly Not my field - Which function is/isn't working Gas, 12volt or 240volt? Or all three not working? What was the nature of work being done that created short circuit? Have you checked In-line fuse from main supply? Are there any other fuses in the Refrigerator circuit? What is the brand size and model No of Refrigerator?
Knowing all this may be assistance of a Keyboard warrior fridge guru.

Not so sure it needed to be pulled out  to find what the fault was,  especially if you don't know what to look for.   It might be simple stuff like fuses.

If it is not working on all  heating/power sources it may have  something wrong with the condenser.

I imagine it will be something simple though

RE: Need help with my 3 way fridge

Welcome to the gang Tasha 75, enjoy here and out in the playground.

I had a similar problem in another Den many moons back and found it was the heater element. Just a thought.

Hi Tasha_75 smile

Here is the manual for the fridge and it has a circuit diagram.

https://www.bing.com/search?q=Dometic+RM2350+3+way+fridge+manual&qs=n&form=QBRE&pq=dometic+rm2350+3+way+fridge+manual&sc=1-34&sp=-1&sk=&cvid=1501935D787B4B03827374DCC85DA6BE

It looks simple enough with no electronics but no fuses there, so perhaps a wire has burnout or something simple. You will need to get a person who can check it out with a meter I think.

Good luck Jaahnbiggrin

Hi Tasha_75,

It could be a number of things. Perhaps you could check that fridge is getting 12 volt power supply to operate the fridge.

In other words, check the vehicle fuses, Follow the fridge 12 volt supply from the starter Battery and or 2nd battery if fitted.

PS: Even to run on gas it must have power to ignite the gas ( assuming it has an electronic starer).

I will check the schematics and post you later.

I have attached the manual (RM202350,pdf).

I was wrong to assume that it had an electronic starter, Its a Piezo.

If you would like my help leave me your number and I will call you and talk you through.

 Regards John

Hi
The very first thing to have checked was ,is the boiler getting HOT on both 240V operation, & 12v with the car engine running!
Now It is out, at least plug the 240V in & see if the boiler is getting hot
If it is, the problem is in the refrigerant system
First step is with power disconnected ,tip the fridge upside down
Give it a few shakes & let it stand overnight, then turn it upright & try powered on 240V again
Without knowing what was actually shorted, there is no way of knowing if fridge 12V &240V operation could be affected[It is a simple manually selected power source fridge [.no electronics]
