Echuca is a bit on the pricey side, if you stay right in town - the main one at the end of the street, is very popular, though we and others couldn't get any TV from there. Apart from that one I don't know, because we usually stay on the river. You can go to Moama - to the Rich River Golf Club and stay there in their parking area, for 3 nights I think, just for the cost of joining the club - I think it is about $5 - go to reception and they will set you up with where to stay. As a member you get discounts on meals and drinks etc. - bonus. (Moama is just over the river from Echuca. Make sure you visit the Beer Shed - great place to have a look at.

Nice little town and only 30k's or 20 mins from Echuca. Caravan Park. I stayed there for a week a few years ago. Nice park although there were a few tomato pickers around(got free tomatoes though) and leaving for work early. Good amenities and, if I remember correctly, it was a stay 7, pay 6 deal.
I stayed there mainly so I could catch the train to Melbourne for a few days to catch up with family. Was able to leave the van and ute there for security and walk to the train station.
The Echuca Caravan Park, at the end of the main street, is very convenient. It is close to the old wharf tourist precinct and in walking distance of the centre of town and places like the Beechworth Bakery! It borders the river, so there are the tourist paddle boats passing occasionally.
That said, a couple of the parks over the river in Moama are prettier - but you really have to drive everywhere.
We always stay at Lockington Travellers Rest. A lovely friendly little town around 15 minutes drive away from Echuca. No time limit, cheap, clean & tidy with toilets, showers & free BBQ in landscaped rose gardens. Away from the hustle & bustle of Echuca, it has a pub & a supermarket. Historic Centre is a must see ( they'll open it up for you out of hours) donation recommended. Ask where to see the Locky Ness Monster & the revolving illuminated fountain a short walk from where you're staying. Award winning sausages at local friendly butcher. We've stayed there around 6 times sometimes for 3-4 nights.

Radar we called into the Greens and moved onto Lockington great spot and only $15 a night power and water great place with short walk to shops and Pub and easy drive to Echuca even went for a drive to Bendigo for the day .
Tonight we are staying at the Rich River Golf Club, what amazing club, I wish I could play golf to justify this beautiful course.
Then we may go over to Lockington for few days to have a look see.

Rich River is a great club - you can get the club bus into town I believe, a few clubs do this - Richmond Bowling Club in NSW, have what they call Wanderers Rest, across the road secure with a boom gate, toilets, showers, water, and discounts on meals etc ., in the club.

We stayed at the Maiden's Inn caravan park in Moama a couple of years ago. It is right on the bank of the Murray River (NSW side) - and in fact has a marina with houseboats as part of the park. For those keen on fishing you can just carefully go down the bank to the waters edge and throw in a line.
It had a very good camp kitchen. An usual feature was that it had two swimming pools. A nice lake (pond) is in the center of the park.
The nearby Moama Bowling Club is excellent for meals. On Sunday mornings there is a good market in a park just before the bridge to Echuca.
There are two things that might put people off. The first is that you have to drive your car to go to the bowling club or supermarket for milk and bread and indeed across the bridge to the larger Echuca town.
The second is that every morning we were woken up by the screech of what seemed to be about a hundred corollas in the trees!
We are just back from there. If you are set up for free camping, try Turner Bend at Tommunbarry about 15 minutes out of Echuca. There were plenty of level camps right on thd river. We even found a spot with an old concrete steps and landing . It was perfect.
If you are heading east from there, i can recommend a gem of a cp at Urana. $20 per night powered site. Complimentary scones on arrival and a clean windshield when we left. Lovely amenities with bath mats, lotions sunscreen etc on the vanity.
After spending a couple of great nights at the Rich River Golf Club, Moama where we enjoyed a excellent roast dinner Blondie won $30 on the pokies, we have now moved down to the very popular Greens Lake to spend a coupe of days resting before moving east to explore more of Victoria.
Have filed away to use next time down this way Lockington, Christies Beach, Turners Bend and Uran.
