I just bought  brand new Isuzu MU-X it was just 19  hours old,i was showing it to my brother inlaw, we were standing on the foot path when a P PLATER HOON lost control of his v8 holden ute wiped out a little Ford laser coming up towards mine and hit mine as well,he was going that hard he lost control and hit both of us sideways mind you he was on the wrong side of the road at this time very disheartning,he wasent worried about  lady in the Laser all he was thinking about was his ute, there was three of us standing on the footpath we had to run to get out of the way, BLOODY IDIOT.  The police were going to through the book at him, lady in the laser was shook up and had a blood nose no serious injuries. Great way to start out with my first new car.

Oh what bad luck - -years ago we had a VL Commodore Berlina - 4 weeks old, hubby driving to work, no wind, but a tea tree, growing in sand on side of road, decided that was the moment it was going to drop a branch - right onto the bonnet of the car!!!! Lucky the insurance covered it, but I had to get ombudsman to mediate, as I thought the council should have paid the excess, as it was their responsibility - but no! - the ombudsman got the excess waived in this instance.

Rotten luck, hope everything works out well & she's as good as new. Reminds me of when we lost a wheel on our boat trailer along the Princes Hwy a while back. We were parked on the side of the road waiting for assistance when a speeding idiot plowed into our car!
A double whammy!

This idiot didn't have insurance p plater shouldn't have been driving a v8,how do you get it through to these wankers,he is very Lucky that he did not kill someone, the police said they had him on six charges so far, I still can't believe that this has happened,s$&t on him ,I am so crapped off.

The good part is that he didn't flee the scene so you can name the other driver to your insurance company.

This means that even though he doesn't have insurance, you can name him so you wont have to pay any excess and it will not affect your rating at all.

The insurance company will chase him for recompense to their costs, you don't have to wait. So long as you have his name and address and car details all is going to run smoothly.

Hi Lance. I also have a DMax with a nudge bar.

About 4 months ago I was in a country large town Coles carpark and talking on my mobile phone - I had been waiting on this call for hours and didn't want to loose contact having finally got the person to phone me (about a warranty claim on my Ibis caravan air con).

The carpark in front of me was empty until this ****** drives into it in his Mazda ute with a full bull bar and huge D links attached to it. He bumped into the front of me and then calmly reverses back. Then he puts up his windscreen sun shield, climbs out of the ute and strolls off to the shops.

I'm still taking on the phone (its taken me 2 weeks to get the manufacturer to call me) so I hop out of my car and call out to him. He totally ignores me and just walks away.

He knew he had hit me as my ute bounced back enough for him to realise he'd dinged me.

Took his rego no and went over to the local police station. With much yawning, they took and incident report - never heard a word back. All recorded on dash cam and I offered the cops a DVD or flash drive copy - no they didn't want that.

Now left with a dent about half the size of yours in my nudge bar, but not worth claiming on insurance. Then 2 days ago we were in a Perth shopping centre and someone has reversed into the tail gate panel and left a dent in that !!!! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

In addition to our boat trailer story, this exact time last year our pride & joy Ford Ranger was struck by lightning in our driveway at home. It was fixed under insurance but we were told by the auto electrician to get rid of it as there would be ongoing reliability issues. It must have cost a mint to repair ($3,000 just for a new instrument cluster)! After it was fixed (7 weeks without a car) we traded it in on a new run-out model Nissan Navara. We were in total shock at the time but a year later we can look back & laugh.
We're happy with our Nissan & it costs half as much than the Ford to get serviced.

Hi Lance,

Know how you feel. Two weeks in and a Corn Flakes Licenced driver from OS, came through a stop sign on top of me. needed a new bumper bar, so after the fix, I added a full steel ARB bulbar and side rails.

Next.

Don't lose those details Lance. They may well come in handy.

Hi Lance

Feel sorry that it happened it's take all the fun out of getting a new car
I would say
Don't get involved let the insurance take care of it
They will get it sorted and hunt the bloke down for payment
He will be paying for a long time

John

The police said something about a new law, there is no more walking away and not paying they will sell you up to pay for all damages, he lived in an exclusive  part  the city so let's hope he was not renting and has a rich mum and dad for the insure,s sake.
