Melb to Cooktown any way possible

Now days I travel this great land car less ,recently buying a NSW Rail Discovery pass

The two month one [$279] was at it southern point Melbourne whilst Brisbane was northern

point---with all NSW to do so Mel to Canberra to visit folks then Syd.

With back pack tent & enough gear I camped Dubbo --Lightning Ridge--Broken Hill

Where trains didnt go busses did.

Back in Sydney I  trained it to Brisbane via Port Maquarie and Coffs Harbour

Flew to Cairns then bussed it to Port Douglas--Cape Trib and finaly Cooktown

Back to Cairns[fly to Bris.] a train to Sydney to camp on the island in the Harbour

then train home---------a very enjoyable journey

Certainly cheaper than diesel - and you can read a book on the way. I was previously unaware that NSW Discovery pass could be used interstate.
