Mine cut out intermittently all the time so I took the back off and found two wires going into like a circuit board. I thought not much looks like it could go wrong so changed the cable to heavier cable and wired directly to house batteries with a in-line fuse next to batteries. Cable is all out of site. It now runs all night when needed non stop. Couldn't be without it now and love the fan.

We have two - one is on the blink though - might ring Whitworth - we have another one on order to put in another spot - love these fans!

Its not an uncommon fault, its poor contact in the gimbal part of the fan. Its a small wiper contact.

Whitworths do not repair the fans at all, and based on my time working there, I don't think they know of anyone who you could contact.

The fans are covered by a 2 year warranty, and I suggest that if the fans you have are under this age, and were purchased at Whitworths, you go to any of their store in Australia, take the fan and receipt with you, and see what they will do.

When I worked there, the odd fan we saw returned were replaced, as the company was importing them directly from overseas, not getting them via an Australian distributor.

If you got them elsewhere, or they are older than 2 years, I suggest trying Mr Google for either an Australian Distributor, or look for a small electrical repairer near to you.

Just a quick update on my journey of the fan. Mine is older than two years and therefore not replaceable under warranty. The advice i have had from EVERYONE including the 1 repairer I managed to find on google is just replace it!!!! I have ordered another of course because I could not survive without it but I'm very sad that we are a society of chuck that and get another...... I'm not a greeny but where is all this STUFF supposed to fit ???

Might get a friend (electrician) to have a look at it next time I see him.

These Sirocco fans are great, but as posted by me before and several others since they have an Achilles heal, the gimbal which allows the fan to be rotated directionally can become dirty and or distorted causing intermittent operation.

To repair is not rocket science and is easy to do with a small Phillips driver and a long nosed pair of pliers. Just look which gimbal has the wiring running to and from it and after removing a small screw can be teased apart cleaned and re aligned quite easily.

I have done several.

The other occasional fault is the soldering on the little circuit board is very poor and sometimes cracks or is a dry joint, this requires a small soldering iron and a steady hand so is more involved.

All this has happened after Caraframo moved production of the Scircco offshore from their Canadian factory, some of their fans, like the Bora are still manufactured in Canada and quality is still very good.

Jules, Andrew fixed mine. He said it was a wire broken because I had turned the fan around too much.
