The Queensland Government QFES has a Program going in the media "If it's flooded forget it" a simple message but a good one , Only a fool would tow a caravan through flooded stream
I think the poor bugger was just too naive, and thought the "locals" would have experience in the area. Obviously they didn't give a ...... hoot?, about whether he got stuck or not, they just wanted to get to the other side.
Edited for a typo.

Having lived in the Kimberleys for nine years.... I think the traveller would have also been slightly intimidated by locals.... Theyvan be when confronted by them ......
Best bet in the north at that time of the year is to travel with a couple of others ......if no one around ...wait until you come across another traveller...

Rather silly not to get one of those providing the info to walk the crossing first. All responsibility must fall to the driver. Seems the stories of just what was said and what the locals did after are changing.
