Yep - it's finally happened. I've made the move. Chaotic transition because "The Spirit" had it's little bid at escape, so my furniture and car came across on a cargo boat. Removalists drove off at mid-day, leaving me with a stack of boxes, bags and whatever to sort out. Will probably get it all sorted in about a week's time. Nevertheless, I'm HERE !!!!
Had 3 goes at changing the name on my avatar but doesn't seem to want to change it. Am I missing something ?? Am not very computer fluent. Anyone travelling near Sheffield send me a PM. Would love to catch up. Might be catching up with Mr Bean on Thursday lunchtime in Sheffield.
And, having arrived, I'm heading up to the Country Music at Smithton on 19/20th Feb. You can never have too many little holiday breaks, can you ?
All the best to you all. Was about 25 C here today but felt like 35 degrees.
Will call in some day for a cuppa , offer still stands if you need a hand give us a call , is the smoke driving you nuts, like it is us around Latrobe ?
Sheffield is very pretty (Paradise is just up the road, literally) , and there are some great spots around the area. Bit cooler than Benalla though............ might even see some snow later in the year

Thanks everyone for your good wishes. RADAR - got my ticket in the mail for Smithton. MARJ - Thanks, I will PM the Webmaster. COWBOY - will PM you my landline phone no. Devonport was very smokey (2 days there while waiting for the cargo boat to arrive), up here only in mornings, ok by afternoon. ROSITA - looking forward to a bit of snow, used to get it when I lived in Kinglake years ago. DOUG - not at all "old school" - have revised my mental image of you now, read your snippets in a whole new light. NEIL & RAINE - hope that fire is not near you, are you going to Smithton ?
Cheers everyone, back to the unpacking. ...... Val
Marj. - Lots of smoke, but nearest one (at Paradise) is only an "Under Patrol" situation, to make sure it doesn't flare up again. Tasmania Fire Service is a terrific site to keep track of the fires. Cheers, Val
