Claude Wharton Weir Gayndah

Hi, has anyone stayed here recently.  Just checked it out on a post from around 2011.  Looks great.  Any Updates?

Or can you suggest any other free camps in Gayndah area or a reasonable priced power site ?

Last time we were around that area, Claude Wharton had been closed - did you want to stay a while or just overnight? There is a free 24hr free camp at the southern end of town, with toilet and water and dump point.

Camping area closures are really picking up pace. On our 7 week trip to NSW in Sept/Oct last year we visited a few that had been closed for no apparent reason, such as the previously popular Warren Weir. Some of them are still listed in current camping books & on the internet.

A lot of times it is a problem that it causes, The local Police ask council to close it down for camping , The wrong type start using it and not behaving .
