A while ago we posted an image of a caravan that had illegally stayed overnight in a clearly signed NO CAMPING area. We received quite a few replies giving the lame excuse that staying overnight in a caravan or motorhome was not camping. Some of them stated that they regularly stay overnight in NO CAMPING areas because they aren't sleeping in a tent. To those people we say take a look at this sign & could you please stop giving the rest of us a bad name. There were caravans camped illegally near this sign.

i may hazard a guess that some people stayed to long or left their garbage and filth on the ground, dumped grey(heaven forbid black)water on the ground when they did leave ect ect ect
whether the controlling Shire or National Park is justified in putting up such a friendly sign, the fact is you cant camp in that area. By continuing to do so, we give these authorities the excuse to put up more of them and further restrict free camping.
Like it or not, we shouldn't camp in the area - but be organized enough to know the next legal place you can or use a CP.
I think most GN's, especially those on sites like this, are better organized and know where they are going to stay overnight (with a Plan B in case the first site is full already or a no camping sign has appeared) in advance. But you do see those who seem to just trundle on and when it gets late afternoon or dusk, they stop wherever they feel like and damage it for all of us.

Very good. We must accept that just because we tow a caravan or drive a motor home we are not a law unto ourselves and no one owes us anything, even if we have paid taxes all our life
Yep try hard not to upset anyone . We go to local parks, recreation grounds etc . Then go to areas such as beach in the morning . We try not to park where cars prefere as we are a little big . RV wise .. Lol

Hi Keith,
You didn't explain again, what you were doing there in the first place Keith. You have to stop hiding behind the bushes. You could get yourself in a spot of bother!
Where are you Dougwee, when we need you.
We totally agree with you Keith. These signs should get the message through loud and clear.
I still think we are assuming that the area was closed because of abuse by certain others. Although it is the most likely fit does not mean it is.
As tax paying public we are entitled to know the reasons why certain areas are closed for overnight stays and if there is a very valid reason then so be it but if not maybe the time is right to either form or join an association who will fight for our rights. If we don't do something then more and more places will close.
The people who have no regard for posted rules about no camping are probably the same people who have no regard for any other rules either.
No fires between September & May doesnt mean them.
Signs saying: Because of water crisis: Washing of vehicles prohibited. This does not apply to them.
In all probability these are the people who steal toilet paper from public toilets, dump black water in truckstops and all sorts of other anti-social behaviour, simply because they believe they are entitled to do what they want whenever they want and will argue that point whenever challenged, even to the point of physical aggression.
Whatever you do, do not approach them, reasoning is out of the question.

Jim & Lambie
We were renting a house nearby this week . Left the caravan at home & towed our boat. We're not the Camping Police & we definitely don't hide behind bushes, just an observation. It's all good. Maybe we should wear blinkers in future & on our travels, not be aware of what's going on around us. Just joking! Really enjoying the serenity of the forum at the moment.
