I have tattoos. I don't give a rats who likes them and who doesn't like them. I like them and that's what matters.

keep thinking about getting a memorial tattoo but apparently metals in tatt ink can make it difficult to have an MRI.

Very true, however don't expect the Aussie tax payer to pick up the bill, when, in later life you realise what you put on your body was a big mistake.

The cost and pain involved will be firmly in your court.wink

Yesterday I was sitting in my doctor's waiting room and I was surrounded by people with tattoos. One guy, probably in his 40s, had grotesque tattoos all over his arms, legs, torso and head. I doubt that there would have been any area of skin that hadn't been mutilated.

Another woman, also in her 40s, had tattoos covering both her arms, from hand to shoulder. I was on the verge of retching when another woman, in her late 20s or early 30s, sat directly opposite me. She also had full length tattoos on her arms, plus some on her neck and chest. She had piercings along the length of her ear and studs in her nose and eyebrow. Her fingers and toes were covered in fading black nail polish. She had a can of Red Bull which she sipped through a straw every 2 or 3 minutes. It seemed like she was on a caffeine drip.

I left the surgery sicker than when I arrived.

No, she was fat and ugly, but I was too polite to tell her.

To put the MRI myth to bed, I have a few tattoos and recently had an MRI on my neck
My chest and arms didnt get pulled into the machine

So I think that one is done and dusted

It seems to be the fat and ugly ones with the tattoos. There is some sort of belief that it enhances their looks.

Wrong!!!

Just in case it wasn't obvious, my "ugly" comment was meant to be sarcastic. In this particular thread we are not judging people on the basis of how they look (eg big nose, crooked teeth, birthmark), but on the manner in which they choose to present themselves (eg green hair, Botox, breast implants, tattoos). AISI, if you choose to mutilate yourself in the name of fashion, then that makes you fair game.

Well said Dorian.

I was feeling somewhat disturbed at the denigrating remarks re peoples, natural physical attributes.

However as you say, self mutilation is another matter entirely.confuse
