First night back on the road after Christmas at home and Spent the night at the free stop in Port Albert, what a great place to stop for the night. Fish and chips in the customs house are amazing.
Two other vans hers overnight but then right on dusk to backpackers moved in, about 5 wiz bangs and three groups in tents, they did not bother us as it was very windy and cold outside our nice warm van but it does make a mockery of the signs that say no tents and self contained RV's only.
it was also a issue that one of the vans and nearly All the rest where outside the designated stopover area, if this keeps up local fisherman are going to start complaining to the local council and we could loose this gem of a stop over.
Port Albert is a nice little place, and I agree fish and chips are great - as always by the sea.
Why do people camp outside the area, when there is room inside the designated area - and of course the bp's know to arrive at dusk, or after dark, no council workers to move them on - pack up their tents early and if asked say they were just there for the day! But RV owners should know better. Funniest thing would be for the fishermen to box them all in with their cars and boat trailers!!!!!!

I would like to see revised 'camping' signs installed across the countryside [rather then the NO camping at the moment]
These signs would be a bit more specific about Self-Contained vans ...
so the backpackers can have no excuse when someone [you or me or 'the authorities'] tell 'em to move on ps- the graphic is a dummy - not one that is in use
