Our baby is is going back to fix her up

Hi All,

Thankyou Thankyou Thankyou ALL,

The power of the people have spoken, has (Plus a few Emails in the right directions. Thankyou to Each and everyone who has helped us.) made all the Difference. Our van has moved up the line from April 7th to next Tuesday . The fixers will take time and some of those that have been listed will not be addressed . We will address this, if the need arises. When she is returned to us.

WE OWE YOU ALL TIMES OVER. Some one up there is looking after us.

The very best regards Jim & Lambie

Hi,
I don't know the story on what problems you have had and as to why you are requiring repairs but I would just like to know how these many caravan manufacturers get away with producing such poor quality products, I certainly would not expect to go pick up my $80,000 Toyota & be expected to take possession of an item that is far from what I have paid for. I am considering approaching those in higher places than myself to get something going so that these caravan builders have to pass a very high standard of quality control & testing before a new caravan can be sold to consumers. The more people I speak to it seems at least one in five buyers of new Vans experience some sort of problems be it major or minor problems. It's not good enough when we all work hard to pay for something we have all waited a long time for & deserve for our efforts.
Good luck to you I hope you can have your repairs done in a quick professional manner in which you deserve. All the best for 2016
K J

Good news Jim. I hope every thing's fixed to your satisfaction and you can start enjoying the van rather than worrying about what you're going to find wrong next - after all that's what you paid you hard earned for wasn't it.

Regards

Dave

Jim - Great news !! Hope youre not flooded out currently where you are !!

KJ - I suspect that the ratio is more likely to be 1 in 3 of more than just a couple of faults in new RVs. There has been pressure on successive federal govts for the past 3-4 years to introduce the USA type "Lemon" laws, where retailers of capital products like motor vehicles and RVs would be required to take them back and provide a full refund if all faults were not fixed the 1st time round. Last year another member put up an email from Jaycos national customer service manager who admitted that they relied on their customers to do quality control which is why Jayco happily extend their limited warranty to 2-3 years (they would be required by the ACCC to do so anyway). That's not a beat up of Jayco - it just happens that Jims new van came from them and they hold almost 60% of the RV market (which includes motor homes and camper trailers as well a caravans)

Jim, jack your van up on each side so the wheels are clear of the ground, and check that the brake wires are not under tension. I have only jacked up one side of the van (to level it) so far and noticed the brake wires on one unit are so tight they could pull adrift. This is just another thing to be addressed. Anyway its good you are going to get the problems addressed.

Hey Jim, I see lotsa vans with names painted on them. Things like Nan n Pops Den, Happy Campers, Gotta Go and so on.

Perhaps you should get Jayco to paint "CAVEAT EMPTOR" on yours.

We once saw a large Jayco Stirling caravan on the Princes Hwy with a great big lemon painted on the back. Obviously not happy owners/campers. Hope you end up getting everything that requires attention fixed. Good luck. pray.gif

Yes, for the features included, against the price the Jayco is hard to go past. Ours came with NSW compliant "break away* system, grey water tank, and loads of other feature's too numerous to mentionbiggrin, recognise the quote?

So the other things that tend to be a let down are off set, not that that should be an excuse.
