hi all, we are a retired couple (62, me Jen & 67 Mal) plus a 4 yr old Golden Retriever, Hannah and we have started to plan for our grey nomad journey. But how do you all manage with a dog in tow? We are also exploring caravans and like the Majestic Knight. Any comments from Knight owners? We will be towing with either a Ford Ranger or Mazda BT50.

Personally, I have a caravan in tow not a dog BUT for what it's worth, make sure you keep Hanna on a lead and don't let her run around camp sites off lead and leave little or big logs laying around. Had 2 big dogs around me a short time ago and logs everywhere and seldom picked up, by owner anyway.
Edit.....oooops, forgot to say, don't let Hanna near "Woody" cos he's only a little fella.

G'day MalandJen and welcome. When we are on the road our 2 dogs are with us. Make sure there vaccinations are up to date and keep a close watch for ticks. As The Chief of Cheer said keep on lead and always pick up after them ( I'm sure you would anyway). Enjoy your travels.

Thanks for that, yes we always keep her on a lead and collect her logs wherever we go. She is a bit of a social butterfly, loves kids and dogs. looking forward to meeting up with others on the road..... somewhere.

3 rules that are important. Keep the dog on a lead, keep them out of other peoples campsites and pick up after them.
Sometimes things can go awry as in when ever I let Daisy in the lake for a swim, she would take off as soon as she got the chance. So now she goes in the water on 2 very long leads hooked together.
And it's welcome from us two 2 Malandjen I'm sure that Hannah is a very fit doggie with all that excersize and could look after herself very well as I am sure that a "ford" could tow her very easily he he

we take our two dogs with us, they love it and have never had any problems, but, both are well mannered, have been brought up around kids and other animals. We find off leash dog parks or beaches to give them a well needed run at times. Info centres are great for that. They have actually visited Dougwe at greens lake a while ago now, and he didn;t throw them out or us either ( Jill and Pete), Enjoy the travels, having dogs, you tend to stop, and see a lot more. but I do echo what others say, don;t let them run loose or leave their little presents behind.
We travel with our two dogs also,most important to have vaccinations up to date if you need to leave her in a kennel, we also ask at visitors centres if they have any pet sitters names or sometimes the local vet will look after them so you don't have to miss out on seeing national parks we free camp most of the time or stay at pet friendly caravan parks.certainly keep on lead around other people except in approirate areas and beware in the bush as baits are laid we carry electric soda to make dogs vomit in case of emergency in our dog first aid kit and checking for ticks is a daily event. Our dogs have travelled approx 40000 kms and have been a joy to have without problem
