Just letting you all know that the free camp at Kershaw Gardens is again open for self contained campers. it's been closed for nearly a year (since the cyclone) and has taken this long to repair the problems, exposed asbestos medical waste sharps etc. I hope this will help some of you in the future trip planning.
We are in the Rockhampton free camp now, for 48 hours. Great spot - Stockland Shopping Centre just across the road, plenty of take aways and also a movie theatre in walking distance. Very busy, and the ranger comes around, takes rego numbers, and moves on the not self contained (toilet). If you are coming, come early in the day - the later you leave it, the harder it is to get a spot.

Yes, still open - we were there on and off in September '16 - great little camp, rangers are terrific, but you MUST have your own toilet and contain grey water. As I said earlier - will be busy - so the earlier you get in the better for you.
