LPG

Hi we are newbies. We have a toyota coaster LPG only. Do any of you guys know of a listing or online App. of service stations around Australia that sell LPG? We are concerned about taking back roads and not finding LPG suppliers. Can any one help us please?

Welcome to the gang Bob Shirl, enjoy here and out in the playground.

Gas! Mmmmm, not all that well known away from big towns once you head into the innards of this great playground. I had a gas/petrol tug but found once I crossed the NSW boarder into QLD two years ago and well away from the coastal areas LPG was fery limited indeed and in many places not at all. Another thing I noticed and for some reason, if available, was the quality of the LPG seemed less. I never got the economy and the tug seemed to run different so ended switching to petrol until getting back to coastal areas.

I now have a diesel tug.

Keep Safe on the roads.

Welcome from us too Bob Shirl

Lots of info in here if you do a search, if you have no luck then pop a question into the appropriate section of the forum for best results.

Some good gear in the forum shop too if you have a browse around.

I see the "Chief of Cheer" has already welcomed you. Keep an eye on him cause he leads people off topic.gif

We are a happy bunch in here and welcome a chat almost any time.

Frank

Thank you for such a friendly welcome.

We now do not feel so alone, Just sad, that LPG is so hard to find. Also maybe a grey Nomad out there may realize this situation is a money spinner. They could design an Ap. for Apple listing every LPG servo in Aus. Now that we and thousands of others would love to see!

Not sure what step to take, looks like we have to stick to regional cities rather than explore the back roads, which is what we were looking forward too.

Go to the Apple App store and search for a LPG finder App. I had one but can't remember what it was called sorry. It only told you where they are and if in the location you are at, at the time though.

OH! Keep an eye out for KFC's pink shirt as well. You will need sunnies and I tell you that for free.

G'day and welcome to the forum, each of the major fuel suppliers have an app for smart phones and tablets which we have used when travelling, our tug is dual fuel and we have heard many stories of lpg being hard to find but nowadays there seems to be plenty of sites around and when travelling it's always a good idea if you are going into an area to check the apps and see who has lpg.

We hope you enjoy the forum and have a great time exploring the big playground

Thank you Aussietraveller, I will check the servo apps. I have also discovered a good one put out by unigas. You key in the suburb you are in and it shows you where all the LPG outlets are.
We are very impressed with the Grey Nomad site and the lovely people who are members. We look forward to meeting some of the members when we eventually hit the road.
Kind regards, Bob and Shirley.

G'day again Bob & Shirley

We have noticed that occasionally you will get to a servo that has LPG listed but the pump is out of order or they are waiting for a delivery. Not much help when you are gas only. I would suggest you never let the tank get to less than half before topping up when you find a place that has gas.

That way you still have some reserve.

as with many such "apps" they tell you what is supposed to be available but not if it actually is.

enjoy your touring

Frank

ps I don't have a pink shirt it was Doug looking through very bloodshot eyes. hehehe

Hi KFT,
Thanks for the tip. Will make sure, we fill when approaching half way mark.
Glad you havn't got a pink shirt, I was seriously considering going on ebay to purchase extremely dark sunglasses, just in case we ever came across a nomad wearing a bright pink shirt!
Regards, Bob and Shirl.
