We have a Gasfuse regulator which has just blown the glass off the top. We could smell gas and went to check and the glass was off. My husband tried to put it back on but it just blew off when we turned the gas back on. Something else to keep an eye on. Naturally we are going to replace it with a new one.
I'd contact the distributors first as this could indicate a bad batch. I'm also not sure I'd buy another after your experience. I presently have one on my bottles but have always been a bit dubious of the protection offered.
A good post and welcome to the forum Diane.
Thanks for the very important post. Can I suggest that You report this problem to the relevant authorities, I presume You are in QLD. If you go to www.business.qld.gov.au
That site will take You to an online fault report form. They can investigate to see if its a common fault. Your actions may save a life.
For what its worth, we needed a gas certificate to sell the you bute camper we had and the gas guy ask us why we had a gas fuse on our gas bottle. Well I didn't know, it was there when we brought it. After he explained a few things, which made sense at the time I took it off placed it in the junk box. I like to relay to you why I don't have one but can not remember.
I think it was to do with the regulator and the minimum amount of gas that is flowing is less then the escape though the gas fuse, something on that line. It naerly 5 years ago.
If you think you need one ask a couple of gas guys until you get a majority ruling on the subject.
Is the device you're talking about on this Bunnings page?

I'd like to get the one with the contents gauge. But if they're dodgy I'll not bother.
Thanks
Thank you for your replies to the Gasfuse regulators. I will get on the gov site and complete a form. We did purchase the gasfuse from bunnings. They are supposed to have a warranty but we are hesitant to replace it.
