I love the Aldi specials but it brings out the worst in everyone. Last Saturday we went to Werribee Aldi to buy a home monitoring system $199 a similar one in Bunnings and JB $400. we got to the store at 8:05 am for an 8:30 open. We were 3rd in line then after about 15 min there were about 20 queued up with an argument starting at the end of the q. Then when the door opened the rush of people left my wife and I about 10th in line with everyone just pushing their way through. As far as the Monitoring systems go they had about 6 of them under the counter where you check out and that was it. We were lucky to get one but I pondered on the way home about what the end of the world would look like with everyone fighting over the last few groceries in a supermarket.

I hear you Tomcat. It doesn't take much for mankind to revert back to whatever we were before achieving a thin layer of civility. Wasn't animal as animals are much better behaved.
We wanted the caravan cover when they went on sale but were away so a friend offered to get it for us. Our friend is a big man and was going through the covers looking for the right size to fit our van when hands came between his legs to grab a cover. He politely told them to back off and wait until he was finished. Wish I was there to see that

Saw a small version of Checkout a couple of nights ago, and they mentioned something about, advertising/Trade Bait or such like cannot remember the exact term, ie with only few/none items on sale, and you could refer the company to the ACCC ( to me for no action). What if they only had 2 items for sale?
Yes Peter, that happens with all the big chains it seems. In BigW one of the shop assistants told us, when we asked about some doonas they had on special, no sorry, we only got 3 of those in. Same with Supercheap, when they had 4WD compressors on special at half price for $145.00. No sorry, we only got two of those in. I was lucky to get one at another store though, because they had attached the sale sign to the front of one of the boxes, and you couldn't see that there was actually one there. I have been in other stores, where I was the first in the shop on the day of a sale, and been told.. sorry we don't have any of those left. Must have had burglars over night LOL
Edit: I just remembered another similar situation when we went to buy a smart TV for the bedroom, that was advertised at a greatly reduced price at another BigW. I asked if they had any in out the back in the store room, because there were none on the shelves. The young shop assistant said she didn't think so, but she would check. When she came back she said yes there was one there but didn't know why it was there. She asked her supervisor, who also didn't know why it was there, but said it was in a still sealed box, so it should be OK.
I reckon someone had put it aside for themselves. I was happy though that I got it, and it is still working perfectly about 4 years later.
